What’s new on Audi’s Geneva Motor Show stand? The biggest news from a sales point of view might have been the A4 Avant – on an all-new chassis for improved driving ability and a bigger boot – but new variants of the TT, Q7 and R8 arguably stole its show stand thunder. Audi has opted for a quick fix in designing an Ingolstadt-sponsored Santa’s sleigh: it’s taken the forthcoming 2010 A1 and prepped it for Christmas duties. Santa looks cheery in this left-hooker, a three-door version of Audi’s new Mini rival.
Hyundai is launching a new range-topping trim for the i40 and i40 Tourer – Premium SE – with lots more toys. Price from £26,065. Once you’ve turned your brand from cheap and cheerful to mainstream and credible, the route to go is to mix in some overtly sporty models and start to nudge in to premium territory too.
